Accounting Software Problem

Big QuickBooks changes are coming!

I can’t stand the subscription model for software. It is the way it is now, increasing costs, and now businesses don’t have the asset of purchased software. I am not a fan of QuickBooks online. Frankly, the older desktop Windows versions were significantly better. You can still purchase Quickbooks Desktop, which is ~800 USD annually. They will eventually sunset this product, which is not great.

Q: Is QuickBooks Desktop being phased out?

A: Yes. In the fall of 2023, QuickBooks emailed users that 2024 would be the last version of QuickBooks Desktop users. After July 31, 2024, Intuit will no longer sell the product to new users. It is important to note that QuickBooks is not sunsetting the product on this date; it is simply a “stop sell” date.

There is one exception – QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise will not be retired, and Enterprise customers and accounting firms can continue purchasing QuickBooks Enterprise subscriptions after July 31. This software is almost 2k per year not an excellent solution for people running home businesses and is expensive for start-up businesses.

Right now, options are very limited.

After a lot of research, I found a few awesome projects but one ultimately I have to keep going with Quickbooks Desktop until it is completely dead… nothing else will work.
